# Driver Notes vs Merge

The clearest difference is price: Merge at Free against Driver Notes's $1.99. Merge also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 18 months) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). Driver Notes's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and review sentiment (100% vs 89%). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Merge is free to download; Driver Notes costs $1.99 up front. Merge sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Driver Notes asks for nothing beyond the download.

Merge holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 4 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Driver Notes's written reviews are positive against 89% of Merge's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Driver Notes ships an update every 18 months, Merge monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
