# LangWid vs Nihongo Master Dictionary

The clearest difference is update cadence: LangWid at every 6 weeks against Nihongo Master Dictionary's every 21 months. LangWid also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (104 vs 6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LangWid sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Nihongo Master Dictionary sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

LangWid holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LangWid has 104 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of LangWid's written reviews are positive against 67% of Nihongo Master Dictionary's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LangWid ships an update every 6 weeks, Nihongo Master Dictionary every 21 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
