# Virtual VOR vs Aviation GPS

The clearest difference is rating: Aviation GPS at 5.0 against Virtual VOR's 4.0. Aviation GPS also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 6 days vs every 5 months). Virtual VOR's advantage is ratings volume (46 vs 4) and iOS requirement (16.2 vs 18.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Aviation GPS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Virtual VOR has 46 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 86% of Virtual VOR's written reviews are positive against 100% of Aviation GPS's.

Virtual VOR ships an update every 5 months, Aviation GPS every 6 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
