# Dissolve vs Pillar Pirates

The clearest difference is update cadence: Pillar Pirates at every 3 days against Dissolve's fortnightly. Pillar Pirates also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and review sentiment (100% vs 84%). Dissolve's advantage is ratings volume (118 vs 5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dissolve sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Pillar Pirates sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pillar Pirates holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dissolve has 118 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of Dissolve's written reviews are positive against 100% of Pillar Pirates's.

Dissolve ships an update fortnightly, Pillar Pirates every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and September 16, 2026 respectively.
