# minical vs Ruby

The clearest difference is ads: Ruby at none against minical's shown. Ruby also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). minical's advantage is ratings volume (5.9K vs 1) and review sentiment (79% vs 60%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. minical sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Ruby sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.79 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ruby holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: minical has 5.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of minical's written reviews are positive against 60% of Ruby's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
