# Guitar Notebook vs AudioJem

The clearest difference is update cadence: Guitar Notebook at every 3 weeks against AudioJem's every 57 months. Guitar Notebook also leads on ratings volume (30 vs 3). AudioJem's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Guitar Notebook sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year and AudioJem sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AudioJem holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Guitar Notebook has 30 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Guitar Notebook ships an update every 3 weeks, AudioJem every 57 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
