# Tools for Procreate vs Makeup Studio

The clearest difference is ads: Tools for Procreate at none against Makeup Studio's shown. Tools for Procreate also leads on ratings volume (16K vs 2.9K). Makeup Studio's advantage is review sentiment (38% vs 24%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tools for Procreate sells 19 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Makeup Studio sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Tools for Procreate holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tools for Procreate has 16K ratings behind it against 2.9K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of Tools for Procreate's written reviews are positive against 38% of Makeup Studio's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Tools for Procreate ships an update weekly, Makeup Studio fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 17, 2026.
