# Shortwave vs e

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Shortwave at 65% against e's 0%. Shortwave also leads on ratings volume (754 vs 2). e's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

e holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shortwave has 754 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Shortwave's written reviews are positive against 0% of e's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shortwave ships an update every 4 weeks, e every 2 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
