# Shortwave vs Tenur

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Shortwave at none against Tenur's 1. Shortwave also leads on ratings volume (749 vs 7) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). Tenur's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 65%) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tenur sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $59.99 per month. Shortwave asks for nothing beyond the download.

Shortwave holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shortwave has 749 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Shortwave's written reviews are positive against 100% of Tenur's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shortwave ships an update every 3 weeks, Tenur every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
