# PDF Scanner vs Secure VPN

The clearest difference is update cadence: Secure VPN at weekly against PDF Scanner's every 2 months. Secure VPN also leads on ratings volume (409 vs 28). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Secure VPN sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Secure VPN has 409 ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 82% and 82% positive.

PDF Scanner ships an update every 2 months, Secure VPN weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
