# PDF Scanner vs Scanner App

PDF Scanner and Scanner App both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 82% of PDF Scanner's written reviews are positive against 40% of Scanner App's. Scanner App's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Scanner App sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner App holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 27 and 39 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of PDF Scanner's written reviews are positive against 40% of Scanner App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF Scanner ships an update every 2 months, Scanner App every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
