# Airthings vs MadgeTech

The clearest difference is rating: MadgeTech at 5.0 against Airthings's 4.4. MadgeTech also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). Airthings's advantage is ratings volume (3K vs 3) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MadgeTech holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Airthings has 3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Airthings ships an update fortnightly, MadgeTech every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and August 16, 2026 respectively.
