# Airthings vs SkyPilot Astro

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Airthings at 33% against SkyPilot Astro's 0%. Airthings also leads on ratings volume (3K vs 8) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). SkyPilot Astro's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (4.6 vs 4.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SkyPilot Astro holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Airthings has 3K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Airthings's written reviews are positive against 0% of SkyPilot Astro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Airthings ships an update fortnightly, SkyPilot Astro every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
