# Cryptomator vs Warden

The clearest difference is rating: Warden at 5.0 against Cryptomator's 4.4. Warden also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 63%) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Cryptomator's advantage is ratings volume (426 vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cryptomator sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and Warden sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Warden holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cryptomator has 426 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 63% of Cryptomator's written reviews are positive against 100% of Warden's.

Cryptomator ships an update every 3 weeks, Warden every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
