# Pi Browser vs ESET VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: Pi Browser at ad-supported against ESET VPN's subscription. Pi Browser also leads on review sentiment (57% vs 42%) and ratings volume (3.6K vs 502). ESET VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.3 for Pi Browser against 4.3 for ESET VPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pi Browser has 3.6K ratings behind it against 502, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 57% of Pi Browser's written reviews are positive against 42% of ESET VPN's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
