# Plug® vs MD509 & D

The clearest difference is rating: Plug® at 4.7 against MD509 & D's 4.0. Plug® also leads on ratings volume (16K vs 3) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). MD509 & D's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 84%) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Plug® holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Plug® has 16K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of Plug®'s written reviews are positive against 100% of MD509 & D's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Plug® ships an update every 2 weeks, MD509 & D every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
