# Core vs Interval Timer

The clearest difference is update cadence: Interval Timer at every 3 weeks against Core's every 33 months. Interval Timer also leads on ratings volume (143 vs 4). Core's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Core sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Interval Timer sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Core against 4.9 for Interval Timer. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Interval Timer has 143 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Core ships an update every 33 months, Interval Timer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
