# Valo vs Hookd | Dating Elevated

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Hookd | Dating Elevated at 60% against Valo's 14%. Hookd | Dating Elevated also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Valo's advantage is rating (3.7 vs 3.0) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 4 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Valo sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Hookd | Dating Elevated sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Valo holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Valo has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Valo's written reviews are positive against 60% of Hookd | Dating Elevated's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Valo ships an update every 5 days, Hookd | Dating Elevated every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
