# Meteor vs Ripples

The clearest difference is monetization model: Ripples at free with in-app purchases against Meteor's subscription. Ripples also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Meteor sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days and Ripples sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ripples holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 152 and 237 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 83% of Meteor's written reviews are positive against 93% of Ripples's.

Meteor ships an update weekly, Ripples fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 8, 2026 respectively.
