# Then vs Forge

The clearest difference is monetization model: Then at freemium against Forge's subscription. Then also leads on ratings volume (22 vs 3) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). Forge's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Then sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Forge sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Forge holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Then has 22 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 88% of Then's written reviews are positive against 100% of Forge's.

Then ships an update every 2 weeks, Forge every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
