# OnPhone vs Virtual Phone Number

The clearest difference is rating: OnPhone at 4.6 against Virtual Phone Number's 4.1. OnPhone also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (52K vs 128). Virtual Phone Number's advantage is review sentiment (65% vs 44%) and iOS requirement (12.4 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OnPhone sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Virtual Phone Number sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OnPhone holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OnPhone has 52K ratings behind it against 128, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of OnPhone's written reviews are positive against 65% of Virtual Phone Number's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OnPhone ships an update fortnightly, Virtual Phone Number every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
