# SpeedTest vs Speed Test

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SpeedTest at none against Speed Test's 4. SpeedTest also leads on ratings volume (6.4K vs 59) and review sentiment (73% vs 63%). Speed Test's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 7 months). On price, rating, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Test sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. SpeedTest asks for nothing beyond the download.

SpeedTest holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SpeedTest has 6.4K ratings behind it against 59, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 73% of SpeedTest's written reviews are positive against 63% of Speed Test's.

SpeedTest ships an update every 7 months, Speed Test every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 19, 2026.
