# CDL Prep vs CDL Permit Test

The clearest difference is update cadence: CDL Prep at every 6 months against CDL Permit Test's every 24 months. CDL Prep also leads on ratings volume (329 vs 20). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CDL Prep sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and CDL Permit Test sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
