# BudWatcher vs The Source

The clearest difference is review sentiment: The Source at 100% against BudWatcher's 21%. The Source also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 5) and rating (4.8 vs 4.5). BudWatcher's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (238 vs 16). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BudWatcher sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. The Source asks for nothing beyond the download.

The Source holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BudWatcher has 238 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 21% of BudWatcher's written reviews are positive against 100% of The Source's.

BudWatcher ships an update fortnightly, The Source every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
