# Shot Timer vs SecNote

The clearest difference is update cadence: Shot Timer at every 2 weeks against SecNote's every 5 weeks. Shot Timer also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 18.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shot Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SecNote sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shot Timer ships an update every 2 weeks, SecNote every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
