# PortX vs SSH VPN

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: PortX at none against SSH VPN's 3. PortX also leads on rating (3.8 vs 3.5) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). SSH VPN's advantage is chart position (#110 vs unranked). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SSH VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. PortX asks for nothing beyond the download.

PortX holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 20 and 19 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of PortX's written reviews are positive against 77% of SSH VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PortX ships an update monthly, SSH VPN every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
