# OCaptain vs Trip

OCaptain and Trip both sit at 3.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 50% of Trip's written reviews are positive against 0% of OCaptain's. Trip also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 2 weeks). OCaptain's advantage is ratings volume (134 vs 5). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

OCaptain holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OCaptain has 134 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of OCaptain's written reviews are positive against 50% of Trip's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OCaptain ships an update every 2 weeks, Trip every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
