# HDReye vs Encrypted Cam

The clearest difference is update cadence: Encrypted Cam at every 5 days against HDReye's monthly. Encrypted Cam also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HDReye sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Encrypted Cam sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

HDReye ships an update monthly, Encrypted Cam every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
