# 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters vs Pilot Coffee

The clearest difference is monetization model: Pilot Coffee at free against 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters's ad-supported. 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters's advantage is ratings volume (29 vs 5) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Pilot Coffee holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters has 29 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters's written reviews are positive against 40% of Pilot Coffee's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
