# 七院档案 vs Dark Notes

The clearest difference is rating: Dark Notes at 4.7 against 七院档案's 4.0. Dark Notes also leads on ratings volume (30 vs 2). 七院档案's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dark Notes sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. 七院档案 asks for nothing beyond the download.

Dark Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dark Notes has 30 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of 七院档案's written reviews are positive against 43% of Dark Notes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

七院档案 ships an update fortnightly, Dark Notes every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
