# Nothing X vs Whale Echo

The clearest difference is monetization model: Nothing X at free against Whale Echo's freemium. Nothing X also leads on ratings volume (3.4K vs 1). Whale Echo's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nothing X sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Whale Echo sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Whale Echo holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nothing X has 3.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Nothing X ships an update fortnightly, Whale Echo weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
