# fitbox vs Workout Timer

The clearest difference is rating: fitbox at 5.0 against Workout Timer's 4.3. fitbox also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 8). Workout Timer's advantage is review sentiment (88% vs 57%) and update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Workout Timer sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. fitbox asks for nothing beyond the download.

fitbox holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Workout Timer has 43 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of fitbox's written reviews are positive against 88% of Workout Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

fitbox ships an update fortnightly, Workout Timer every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and September 17, 2026 respectively.
