# Ahead vs BNG Studio

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: BNG Studio at none against Ahead's 23. BNG Studio also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and device support (3 vs 1). Ahead's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 23 months) and ratings volume (22K vs 3). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ahead sells 22 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. BNG Studio asks for nothing beyond the download.

BNG Studio holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ahead has 22K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Ahead ships an update fortnightly, BNG Studio every 23 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and September 8, 2026 respectively.
