# Ahead vs MapCut

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MapCut at none against Ahead's 23. MapCut also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 71%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Ahead's advantage is ratings volume (22K vs 4). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ahead sells 22 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. MapCut asks for nothing beyond the download.

MapCut holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ahead has 22K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 71% of Ahead's written reviews are positive against 100% of MapCut's.

Ahead ships an update fortnightly, MapCut every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
