# The Vineyard vs Primitiv+

The clearest difference is update cadence: Primitiv+ at monthly against The Vineyard's every 24 months. Primitiv+ also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.6) and ratings volume (58 vs 9). The Vineyard's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Primitiv+ holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Primitiv+ has 58 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two.

The Vineyard ships an update every 24 months, Primitiv+ monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
