# Hidden Camera Detector vs Spy Detector

The clearest difference is monetization model: Hidden Camera Detector at free with in-app purchases against Spy Detector's subscription. Hidden Camera Detector also leads on review sentiment (47% vs 27%) and ratings volume (17K vs 2.9K). Spy Detector's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hidden Camera Detector sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Spy Detector sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spy Detector holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hidden Camera Detector has 17K ratings behind it against 2.9K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Hidden Camera Detector's written reviews are positive against 27% of Spy Detector's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hidden Camera Detector ships an update every 2 months, Spy Detector every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
