# Mastodon vs Nevix

The clearest difference is ads: Mastodon at none against Nevix's shown. Mastodon also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (13K vs 9). Nevix's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.6). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Mastodon against 4.4 for Nevix. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mastodon has 13K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Mastodon ships an update monthly, Nevix every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
