# Mastodon vs Knoso

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Knoso at 100% against Mastodon's 48%. Knoso also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). Mastodon's advantage is ratings volume (13K vs 12). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Knoso holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mastodon has 13K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 48% of Mastodon's written reviews are positive against 100% of Knoso's.

Mastodon ships an update monthly, Knoso every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
