# Mastodon vs Sauced App

The clearest difference is rating: Mastodon at 4.5 against Sauced App's 4.1. Mastodon also leads on ratings volume (13K vs 12). Sauced App's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and review sentiment (63% vs 48%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Mastodon holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mastodon has 13K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Mastodon's written reviews are positive against 63% of Sauced App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mastodon ships an update monthly, Sauced App weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
