# Mastodon vs Wavepoint

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Mastodon at none against Wavepoint's 3. Mastodon also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (13K vs 8). Wavepoint's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly). On price, rating, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Wavepoint sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Mastodon asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Mastodon against 4.5 for Wavepoint. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mastodon has 13K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Mastodon ships an update monthly, Wavepoint every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
