# Yik Yak vs Mapspot

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Mapspot at 100% against Yik Yak's 25%. Mapspot also leads on rating (4.9 vs 3.9) and ads (none vs shown). Yik Yak's advantage is ratings volume (51K vs 51) and chart position (#28 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Yik Yak sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Mapspot sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mapspot holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Yik Yak has 51K ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two.
