# Active Illini vs Solae

The clearest difference is rating: Solae at 5.0 against Active Illini's 1.6. Solae also leads on update cadence (every 5 months vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (103 vs 12). Active Illini's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Solae holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Solae has 103 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Active Illini ships an update every 14 months, Solae every 5 months. Both last shipped on September 30, 2026.
