# Black Walnut vs Willie's Rewards

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Willie's Rewards at 14K against Black Walnut's 22. Willie's Rewards also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.6). Black Walnut's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (every 6 months vs every 12 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Willie's Rewards holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Willie's Rewards has 14K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Black Walnut's written reviews are positive against 93% of Willie's Rewards's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Black Walnut ships an update every 6 months, Willie's Rewards every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
