# M3U8 Player Pro vs CacheCat

The clearest difference is update cadence: CacheCat at monthly against M3U8 Player Pro's every 34 months. M3U8 Player Pro's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. M3U8 Player Pro sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and CacheCat sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

M3U8 Player Pro ships an update every 34 months, CacheCat monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
