# Compass vs Compass Max

The clearest difference is ads: Compass Max at none against Compass's shown. Compass Max also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 3 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Compass's advantage is ratings volume (197 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Compass sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Compass Max sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Compass Max holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Compass has 197 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Compass ships an update every 3 months, Compass Max every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
