# MODBOX vs Horror Mods for Minecraft PE

The clearest difference is monetization model: MODBOX at free with in-app purchases against Horror Mods for Minecraft PE's subscription. MODBOX also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4). Horror Mods for Minecraft PE's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MODBOX sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Horror Mods for Minecraft PE sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MODBOX holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 408 and 175 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of MODBOX's written reviews are positive against 80% of Horror Mods for Minecraft PE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MODBOX ships an update every 2 weeks, Horror Mods for Minecraft PE every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
