# SMARTg Home vs Shiner

The clearest difference is rating: SMARTg Home at 4.5 against Shiner's 1.7. SMARTg Home also leads on ratings volume (185 vs 21) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.6). Shiner's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 6 months) and review sentiment (18% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SMARTg Home holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SMARTg Home has 185 ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of SMARTg Home's written reviews are positive against 18% of Shiner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SMARTg Home ships an update every 6 months, Shiner every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
