# Subscriptions vs Kotekan

The clearest difference is ads: Subscriptions at none against Kotekan's shown. Subscriptions also leads on ratings volume (172 vs 2). Kotekan's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 weeks). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Subscriptions sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per year and Kotekan sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Kotekan holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Subscriptions has 172 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 86% of Subscriptions's written reviews are positive against 89% of Kotekan's.

Subscriptions ships an update every 4 weeks, Kotekan every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
