# FishScan vs Fishdex

The clearest difference is monetization model: Fishdex at freemium against FishScan's subscription. FishScan's advantage is ratings volume (66 vs 3) and review sentiment (14% vs 0%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FishScan sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 3 months and Fishdex sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 2.7 for FishScan against 2.7 for Fishdex. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FishScan has 66 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 14% of FishScan's written reviews are positive against 0% of Fishdex's.
