# Langtern Chinese vs AutoLang

Langtern Chinese and AutoLang both sit at 4.2 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Langtern Chinese's written reviews are positive against 82% of AutoLang's. AutoLang's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs monthly) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Langtern Chinese sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and AutoLang sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AutoLang holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 6 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Langtern Chinese's written reviews are positive against 82% of AutoLang's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Langtern Chinese ships an update monthly, AutoLang every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
